Mittelberg route

From the beginning of May until the end of October 2024, PostBus route 185 from Saanen to Jaun provides easy access to the Mittelberg adventure region. The area around Abländschen and the Gastlosen mountains is very popular with hikers, climbing enthusiasts and nature lovers.

Slow down in unspoilt nature

Discover the Abländschen region and the Gastlosen mountains in an electric Postbus. In the Gstaad region, PostBus route 185 will now run from Saanen to Jaun over the Mittelberg Pass from the beginning of May to the end of October 2024.

On this approximately one-hour journey, you’ll pass through the beautiful Grischbach Valley, over the Mittelberg to Abländschen and then on to Jaun, stopping at the chairlift valley station. You’ll find worthwhile sights at any of the 12 stops. Because the further you travel, the more everything slows down.

Berghotel Zur Sau

This is where peace and relaxation begin. A visit to the cosy Berghotel Zur SauTarget not accessible at the end of the world is an absolute must. Behind the hotel, you’ll find absolutely nothing. Nothing but magnificent mountain scenery and nature.

Abländschen church

A stop at the beautiful mountain church built in 1612 is definitely worth your while. White rustication adorns the façade of the church, which is surrounded by a small cemetery wall. On top of the gabled roof, clad in wooden shingles, there is a spire housing two bells that are still rung by hand to this day.

Hiking

Delightful hikes await you. Grubenberg hut

If you want to enjoy the calm of nature during the morning hours, while the sun slowly rises and the surrounding mountain landscape is bathed in breathtaking light – you’ll be in the right place at the Grubenberg hut. Timetable

  • The route runs from 4 May to 27 October 2024
  • In May and June, Saturdays and Sundays and on general public holidays (including bridge days) with four services per day in both directions
  • In July and August, and from 27 September to 27 October 2024, the route will run continuously from Monday to Sunday, with four services per day in each direction
  • From 1 to 27 September 2024, Saturdays and Sundays and on general public holidays (including bridge days) with four services per day in both directions

With the Gstaad Card, overnight guests can enjoy free public transport on designated routes between the Saanenland and Simmental. The Gstaad Card is valid all year.
