The introduction of motor vehicle services in 1925 greatly reduced travel times. Here an example from PostBus route 272: the journey from Willisau to Hergiswil bei Willisau took 45–55 minutes by horse coach service and 21 minutes by bus. The Willisau–Nebikon route took 80 minutes by horse coach service and 40 minutes by bus.
