New: introduction of the first electric buses

Since 2025, electric vehicles have been operating on line 1 Castione FFS–Arbedo–Bellinzona FFS–Camorino. These are the first electric buses used in public transport in Ticino. Thanks to the deployment of the new electric vehicles, up to 146,000 litres of diesel can be saved each year, corresponding to 383 tonnes of CO2 emissions. In addition, the buses are extremely quiet and are charged only at the depot during breaks or at the end of the shift.

From September 2026, four buses, fully electric Solaris Urbino 12, will enter service on line 2 Bellinzona FFS–Monte Carasso–Sementina–Giubiasco FFS. The use of the new electric vehicles will make it possible to save around 230 tonnes of CO2 each year, equivalent to more than 91,000 litres of diesel not consumed.
